Abstract
the power of documentary films to impact social movements and public opinion. For many years, documentaries have been potent means of bringing attention to important issues, questioning accepted wisdom, and motivating people to take collective action. In this study, we look at how important documentaries have been in capturing important events in social movements including LGBTQ+ rights, environmental activism, gender equality, and civil rights. We also look at how these films have formed public opinion and driven social change. Documentaries offer an interesting and immersive way to engage people in important societal issues through visual narrative, personal stories, and factual analysis. the power of films to bring underrepresented perspectives to the forefront and spark broad public debate, as well as their influence on media narratives, grassroots activity, and policy-making. In the end, this study highlights how important it is for documentary filmmakers to record historical events and how they can influence public discourse and social movements.
