Abstract

There has been a dramatic shift in online interaction and communication with the introduction of digital communication platforms. the ever-changing character of linguistic variance in online discourse as shown by a corpus-based study. Our results are derived on a large dataset that includes text samples gathered from several online places, such as social media, forums, and chat rooms. We examine lexical variety, syntactic structures, and sociolinguistic factors as facets of language variation. Age, gender, and geographical origin are some of the demographic variables that we study to determine their impact on language preferences in online conversations. Further, we look at how social environment influences linguistic variance, including how acronyms, emoticons, and online slang are used.
